The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently released the much-awaited CTET 2023 Exam City Allotment on August 1. This notification brings good news for candidates who have applied for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2023 and are gearing up to appear for the exam. With the release of the exam city allotment, candidates can now check their allotted examination cities through the official website at ctet.nic.in.

The CTET 2023 exam is scheduled to take place on August 20, 2023, in the offline mode. It is worth noting that this exam marks the return of the CTET in the offline mode after a gap of 5 years. The applicants who successfully completed the application process and paid the examination fee between 27th April 2023 to 26th May 2023 are eligible to participate in the examination.

Step 2: On the homepage, look for the link: " View Date & City (Pre Admit Card) for CTET Aug-2023."

Step 3: Read the complete details mentioned in the notification.

Step 4: After reading the details, go back to the homepage and scroll down to find the link - "View Date & City (Pre Admit Card) for CTET Aug-2023."

Step 5: Click on the above link, and it will direct you to a new window.

Step 6: In the new window, enter your login details, which may include your application number and password.

Step 7: Your examination city allotment and pre-admit card will be displayed on the screen on the logging in to the page.

Step 8: Download and save the admit card and allotment details. Also, make sure to take a printout of the same for future reference.

Along with the examination city allotment list, the CBSE has also released the pre-admit card, which can also be downloaded from the official website. However, please note that the official CTET Admit Card 2023 will be issued by the Board on August 18. It is mandatory for all candidates to carry the admit card to the examination center on the day of the CTET 2023 exam.

Public Notice

The applicants of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test, who had paid the examination fee by completing the application process from 27/04/2023 to 26/05/2023, are informed that this examination will be conducted on 20/08/2023 in OMR based (offline) mode. The admit card of the applicants, with details of examination city allotted to them, have been uploaded on the website of CTET (https://ctet.nic.in).
The applicants are also informed that while applying for CTET examination they had selected the examination city as per the online examination, but now the examination is being conducted in offline mode and the examination cities have changed as per the availability of examination centers. Therefore, based on the district of their present address given by the applicants in their online form, they have been allotted the examination city nearest to the district of their present address. Any request for change of city of examination will not be entertained. 

CTET Admit Card with detailed description of examination centers will be uploaded on CBSE's website (https://ctet.nic.in) on 18/08/2023.

About CTET and CBSE

In accordance with the provisions of sub-section (1) of Section 23 of the RTE Act, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) vide Notification dated 23rd August, 2010 and 29th JULY, 2011 laid down the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher for class I to VIII. It had been inter alia provided that one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools referred to in Clause (n) of section 2 of the RTE Act is that he/she should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which will be conducted by the appropriate Government in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE.

The rationale for including the TET as a minimum qualification for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher is as under:

It would bring national standards and benchmark of teacher quality in the recruitment process;
It would induce teacher education institutions and students from these institutions to further improve their performance standards;
It would send a positive signal to all stakeholders that the Government lays special emphasis on teacher quality
The Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) to the Central Board of Secondary Education Delhi.

Candidates are advised to refer only authentic Text Books and syllabus suggested by NCTE for preparation in area of education For information on Syllabus, click on Information Bulletin.
